Summary of Amelia Bedelia

The story “Amelia Bedelia” written by Peggy Parish is about a girl who totally mistakes other people’s meaning. She is hired to be a housekeeper in a rich family. The host of the house can’t stay with her but write a list to her instead. The girl reads the list and then does the things on the list at the same time. However, the girl totally mistakes the real meaning on the list. She does all the things wrong. Before she does these things, she makes a lemon-meringue pie to give them a surprise. Then the host and his wife come back. The hostess sees all the wrong things she does getting very angry and wants to fire her. But after eats the lemon-meringue pie she makes, the host and the hostess decide to let the girl stay at the home working.

My favorite part of the story is the girl does those things which she mistakes very hard. Although she mistakes all of the things on the list, she still does it very hard. She doesn’t thinks that it is so strange and then doesn’t do it. I like her spirit.

If I am in her shoes. I would not do the things so hard like her. But it not right. I would learn her spirit like that.
